What Roblox Premium is
Roblox Premium is a paid membership that gives you a monthly allowance of Robux (the in-game currency), a boost to how much Robux you earn when other players use your creations, and access to exclusive items in the avatar shop. It costs money each month, and you can cancel anytime. The membership itself does not unlock games or experiences — those remain free to play whether you have Premium or not.
Think of it as a way to get a steady stream of Robux without spending money on individual purchases. If you create games or items that other players buy, Premium also increases the percentage of Robux you keep from those sales.
Key Takeaways
- Roblox Premium gives you a monthly Robux allowance that you can spend on avatar items, game passes, or anything else in the Roblox catalog.
- The membership tiers are 450 Robux per month, 1,000 Robux per month, or 2,200 Robux per month, with prices varying by region and payment method.
- Creators earn a higher percentage of Robux from sales when they have Premium active on their account.
- You can turn off the automatic monthly charge at any time, and your Premium membership ends at the end of the current billing period.
- Roblox Premium does not give you access to games or experiences that are otherwise locked — all games on the platform are free to play.
The three Premium tiers and what they cost
Roblox offers three membership levels. The entry tier gives you 450 Robux per month. The middle tier gives you 1,000 Robux per month. The highest tier gives you 2,200 Robux per month. The exact dollar cost depends on your country and which payment method you use (credit card, gift card, mobile carrier billing, or PayPal).
All three tiers include the same perks: the monthly Robux allowance, the creator bonus, and access to exclusive avatar items. The difference is only how much Robux you receive each month. You can change which tier you are on, or cancel entirely, from your account settings at any time.
How the monthly Robux allowance works
When your Premium membership is active, Roblox deposits your monthly Robux allowance into your account on the same day each month. You do not have to do anything to receive it — it arrives automatically. You can then spend that Robux on avatar customization items, game passes (which unlock features within specific games), or anything else sold in the Roblox catalog.
The allowance is yours to keep even if you cancel Premium later. If you let your membership lapse, you stop receiving the monthly deposit, but any Robux you already have in your account remains there.
The creator earnings boost
If you build games, sell items, or create other content on Roblox, Premium increases the percentage of Robux you keep from those sales. Without Premium, creators receive a smaller cut. With Premium active, that percentage goes up. This is the main reason many active creators maintain a Premium membership — the boost to earnings can pay for the subscription itself over time.
The exact percentage varies depending on what you are selling and how the transaction works. The Roblox Creator Hub lists the current rates for different types of sales.
How to start a Premium membership
Open Roblox on your device and go to your account settings. Look for the Premium section and select the tier you want. Choose your payment method — credit card, gift card, mobile carrier billing, or PayPal. Complete the purchase. Your membership begins when ready, and your first monthly Robux allowance arrives within a few minutes.
If you are under 13, your account may have restrictions on payment methods depending on your region. Some younger accounts can only use gift cards or require parental approval for subscriptions.
How to cancel or change your membership
Go to your account settings and find the Premium section. You will see an option to manage your subscription. Select "Cancel Premium" or "Change Tier" depending on what you want to do. If you cancel, your membership ends at the end of your current billing period — you do not lose access mid-month. If you change to a different tier, the new rate takes effect on your next billing date.
You can also pause your subscription temporarily through the same menu if you want to stop the monthly charge without fully canceling. Paused subscriptions can be restarted later.
What Premium does not include
Premium does not unlock games or experiences that are otherwise locked. All games on Roblox are free to play regardless of whether you have a membership. Some games offer optional game passes that add features or cosmetics, but those are separate purchases — Premium membership does not include them automatically.
Premium also does not give you special moderation powers, priority customer support, or any advantage in gameplay itself. It is purely a way to get Robux and earn more from your creations.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to my Robux if I cancel Premium?
Your Robux stays in your account. Canceling Premium only stops the monthly allowance from arriving — it does not remove Robux you already have. You can spend that Robux anytime, even after your membership ends.
Can I gift Premium to someone else?
Roblox does not currently offer Premium gift cards or the ability to gift a membership directly to another account. You can buy Robux gift cards and send those to someone, but not a Premium subscription itself.
Do I have to spend my monthly Robux allowance right away?
No. Your monthly allowance sits in your account and does not expire. You can save it up over several months and spend it all at once, or spend it gradually. The allowance is yours to use whenever you want.
Is there a refund if I cancel mid-month?
No. Once you purchase a month of Premium, that charge is not refundable. However, you keep your membership and Robux allowance through the end of that billing period, even if you cancel when ready after purchase.
Does Premium give me more friends or followers?
No. Premium is only about Robux and creator earnings. Your social features, friend limit, and ability to follow other players are the same whether you have Premium or not.
